What makes people either love or hate Real Gospel Preaching

“If there is one more salient character of revealed religion than another, it is confidence, certainty-positiveness! “Thus saith the Lord”-“I have a message from God unto thee.” But this is just that spirit against which the public mind rebels,-it will have truth and falsehood-the revelation of God and the lubrications of men, dealt with alike-philosophically, liberally, without preference or partiality-as perhaps true, or perhaps false, but all alike to be regarded with a sort of Platonic composure-we will not say, indifference,-the result obviously being to enlarge the region of Doubt.” Page 2.

Sabbath Keeping or Lord's Day Worship?

Many Christians are being troubled by scruples ( and erring pastors) concerning the "correct" day of worship and whether or not Christians are obligated to observe the Sabbath in the same way as enjoined upon the Jewish nation (Exodus 20:8-11). The following correspondence exemplifies the nature of the question, and provides a response affirming the liberty of the Christian from the curse and dead works of the law.

Pastor Turner,
I have a question that you may have answered on your website (but I missed finding it if you did.) I was brought up accepting Sunday worship, and in some of my studies I see some things that lead me to believe we should be observing "the Sabbath" as well, at the very least. I've researched some books.
There is “evidence” provided that the Catholic Church is responsible for dictating Sunday worship (dating from Constantine in the 300’s.)--pretty compelling comments from bishops, priests, and cardinals all the way back to the early centuries of Christianity.
I hoped you would give me your opinion on this, and if you disagree, maybe you can provide me the clear cut evidence for Sunday (as the day of worship for Christians)in your reply??
Thank you and God Bless,

R.G.

------

Dear R.G.:
Thanks for your most cordial inquiry.
#1) If a Saturday Sabbath observance is mandatory upon Gentile believers, "the church of the living God, which is the pillar and ground of the truth has been in error for 1900 and 70 or so years.
#2) If the supposition is true that the Church should keep the Sabbath as a day of Rest (that is what it was, a day of rest) and the Sabbath is Saturday, then it is not what Moses said it is in Exodus 31:17: "it (the Sabbath) is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever."
#3) There is no reiteration of the Sabbath commandment any place in the New Testament to a believer in Jesus Christ.
#4) IN Acts 13, four points -and four only - were enjoined on the Gentile who believed in Jesus: to abstain from things strangled; to abstain from the eating of blood; to abstain from fornication; and from meats offered to idols. The Sabbath was not enjoined on gentile Christians anywhere, though the other nine commandments are repeated variously in the gospels and elsewhere. Therefore, we must conclude that the Sabbath, is what God said it was, a sign between the nation of Israel and God of a perpetual nature. Hence it is that Jew, not Christians, gather on Saturdays.
#5) Every Sabbatarian I have met, without exception, seeks to put men under the law, to cause them to "fall from grace." The Sabbath keeping thing is the opening guns of those that would put man under the law, that is, under the curse.
#6) The words of the Bible take precedence over history. We are free from the law, dead to the law, and alive in Christ, therefore we follow the commandments of Christ and his apostles in the New Testament, serving in newness of spirit, not oldness of letter.
The greatest work I have read outside the Bible on this topic is SEVENTH DAY ADVENSTISM RENOUNCED by Elder Canright. It has never been refuted.
I trust this will help you as you seek the bottom line truth of the matter. We must go by Scripture. The Scripture mentions laying by in store offerings on the first day of the week (Paul said that), and though Paul disputed in the synagogues we do not find him anywhere telling Gentile Christians to worship on Saturday.
I have preached thoroughly on this, and have posted the sermon relevant to it which you can find at: http://av1611reformation.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/the-sabbath-pastor-nelson-turner-10-29-2002.mp3 .
God's blessings to you in the grace of Christ alone.

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." Ephesians 5:11

"...and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils." 1 Corinthians 10:20

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14

"And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments." Exodus 20:1-6

Contending for the Faith

Produce your cause, saith the LORD;
bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. Isaiah 41:21

In a sermon earlier this year, Pastor Turner presented a challenge to any minister or preacher (competent to accept it) to arrange for an open forum discussion of the following:

1) The indisputable evidence for "The Doctrines Of Grace" -- so-called five point Calvinism (TULIP) -- in the Bible.

2) The inerrancy, infallibility, and purity of the word of God in the English language as found in the AV1611 King James Bible.

3) The false religion, false Christ, false faith and false hope contained in modern translations of the Bible which have deliberately corrupted the word of God.

4) The impurity of the corporate "churches" (501-3c) which have become vassals of the state (and even more insidiously of the "Church of Rome").

To demonstrate his confidence in the truth of his position -- because it is revealed in the word of God and by indisputble evidence from history -- Pastor Turner offered to conduct his side of the discussion without directly consulting the Bible or other books.

A gentleman who visited the AV1611Reformation.com website and saw the challenge offered by Pastor Turner recently attempted to arrange such a forum featuring Pastor Turner and the following prominent internet "preachers" among others: David Cloud, Dave Hunt, Peter S. Ruckman, Gail Ripplinger.

Interestingly, none of those contacted was willing to accept the challenge as the correspondence below demonstrates.

Subsequent to the back-and-forth e-mails Pastor Turner preached the sermon "A New Generation" to specifically address how these preachers, and others like them harm the Church and deny God's word while embracing doctrines contrary to revealed truth. This subject was also covered in an audio sermon posted on this website "Message for Bashers of Calvinism" .

All visitors to this website are invited to review this material, and to come to a fair judgement regarding it.

The correspondence mentioned above is posted here for your review:

Dear Sir,

I recently listened to your sermon on Calvinist bashers(relistened I should say). I was wondering if you had personally delivered that challenge to any prominent anti-Calvinists eg. Peter Ruckman,David Cloud, Dave Hunt etc. If you haven't I would like to deliver it personally to possibly all three of the above mentioned. I saw a Ruckman video some time ago, in which Ruckman was exulting that he had won a debate with a Calvinist: actually, no one had showed up for the debate, and Ruckman was declaring that he had won the debate. It would be great if a debate between yourself and the above mentioned could be posted on say You Tube.
Sincerely
Joseph Alexander

This is directed to Mr. Dave Hunt. Would you be interested in engaging in
debate with a Calvinist? This would be a public debate and will have to be
broadcast on the Internet. I am not the Calvinist debater but there is such
a Calvinist on the Internet, who is challenging all Calvinist bashers such
as yourself in open public debate. Please let me know.

Subject: Re: [Fwd: [E-mail Questions] Calvinism Debate]

Hello
It is difficult to see anything productive coming from a challenge highlighted by name calling: "there is such a Calvinist on the Internet, who is challenging all Calvinist bashers such as yourself in open public debate." It is indeed of concern that the admonition of Ephesians 4:29 seems to have been forgotten by many today. In truth, some have asked: Why does Dave Hunt refuse to debate publicly with James White? The book, "Debating Calvinism" is not a valid, helpful exchange. Is Dave afraid to have his views examined by Mr. White?”

Consider the reasoning. If Dave were afraid to have his views examined by Mr White, why did he invest months in a book that preserves his views, thoughts, and position for anyone to examine at length, repeatedly, and at their leisure? The reader can examine the statements, their sources, go back and forth between the two positions, and examine with greater depth than allowed in a live debate format. It is not reasonable, therefore, to state that the book "Debating Calvinism" is "not a valid, helpful exchange."

Due to its very nature a live debate may often give only a snapshot analysis of the issues involved. While it may prove a partisan crowd pleaser, it is simply incorrect to deem it a superior forum. For these reasons, Mr Hunt has decided that the book will stand as his response.

Further, Dave has previously replied to accusations that he has ducked debates in the past: http://www.thebereancall.org/calbook.htm

Finally, as Dave enters his 84th year, he believes the Lord would have him concentrate upon finishing the books he has before him. Some of these are projects which have been in process for several years. Consequently, he regrets that he can no longer reply regarding the many books, articles, and other materials he regularly receives. His speaking schedule has also been greatly reduced to a few meetings a year to those Dave has had a long time commitment.

Because of this, Dave has had to regretfully decline all requests for critique or comment.

Your understanding and prayers are certainly requested.

Thank you for writing.

Pastor Turner's Reply (show details Oct 16)

drogheda@comcast.net to joseph, et al

This only highlights what I said in the message concerning Calvinist bashers. I am not a prophet, but I know that God has called me to preach the everlasting Gospel and earnestly contend for the faith. As God gives me grace, I will meet all challengers [who are in denial of the Doctrines of Grace and the infallibility of the King James Bible] as the providence of God allows. These men are reprobate concerning the faith, by their own testimony, and have shown us they have not the same spirit as Paul and the apostles. In spiritual warfare, there is no quarter, no holding back the sword of the spirit from blood. To the Lord Jesus Christ alone be all honor, praise, blessing glory and power, both now and forever more. Pastor Nelson C. Turner

Militant Catholicism

Militant Catholicism
(The following quotes and images reveal the abominations of the Romish sect; its disorientation from the true faith founded by the Lord Jesus Christ; and the threats it poses to the God-given rights and freedoms of people throughout the world as it seeks to establish a world government under its pope along with his master, the “black pope” Superior General of the Jesuits.)

“We of the Catholic Church are ready to go to Death for the Church. Under God, she is the supreme object of our worship. Tell us that we think more of the Church than we do of the United States; of course we do. Tell us we are Catholics first and Americans or Englishmen afterwards; of course we are. Tell us, in the conflict between the Church and the civil government we take the side of the Church; of course we do. Why, if the Government of the United States were at war with the Church, we would say tomorrow, “To hell wit h the Government of the United States;” and if the Church were at war, we would say, “To hell with all the governments of the world.” They say we are Catholics first and Americans decidedly afterwards. There is no doubt about it. We are Catholics first and we love the Church more than we love any and all the governments of the world; and we love the Church more than we love our fathers and mothers, we love the church more than we love our children. Why? Because we are children of Jesus Christ, and He says, “Unless you leave father and mother, sisters and brothers, kinsfolk and acquaintances for My sake, you are not worthy of Me.” I love the people of America; I love the pe ople of every nation; I glory in their loyalty; but let the governments of the world steer clear of the Catholic Church; let the emperors, let the kings, let the Presidents not come in conflict with the head of the Catholic Church. Because the Catholic Church is everything to all the Catholics of the world, they renounce all nationalities where there is a question of loyalty to her. And why is it the Pope is so strong? Why is it that in this country, where we have only seven per cent of the population, the Catholic Church is so much feared? She is loved by all her children, and feared by everybody. Why is it the Pope is such a tremendous power? Why, the Pope is the rule of the world!&n bsp; All the emperors, all the kings, all the princes, all the Presidents of the world to-day are as these altar boys of mine. The Pope is the ruler of the world. Why? Because he is the ruler of the Catholics of the world, the Catholics of all the world would die for the rights of the Pope. He is the head of the Church, and they would de for the Church. And the Church is the Church of Jesus Christ, and they need not have any misgivings on that score; there need be no misconceptions there-the Catholics of the world are Catholics first and always; they are Americans, they are Germans, they are French, or they are English afterward.”” - Priest Phelan (Editor of THE WESTERN WATCHMAN, JUNE 27,1912 FROM THE ARTICLE “Catholics are Royal Now: They Will Be Divine” delivered in a sermon on June 30, 1912. Cited from THE POPE - CHIEF OF WHITE SLAVERS, by Jeremiah Crowley, self published.)

ntent of his statements, which declare the priest to be the “soul winner.”

“The continuance of Popery depends upon this country alone. Extinguish it in the United States , and it dies everywhere. The old world is sick of it; it has cursed it long enough. It is for us alone to say whether it shall live or die. Americans alone can sound the death knell of Popery…”

(Statement by William Hogan, Esquire, ex-priest and champion for American freedom in the 1800’s.)

THE ANSWER TO THE ABOVE IS THIS:

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF

Ecclesiastes 1:9, 10: “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.”

The truth of these verses is demonstrated by a comparison of the current behavior of the chief executive of the United States , and no doubt will apply to his successor as well. Eternal truth has its application and demonstration in every generation, and ours is no exception. From the seminal work THE HISTORY OF SCOTLAND by James Hill Burton , we cite the following declaration by the representatives of the people of Scotland concerning the Jesuit, Papist, murdering reprobate James VII of Scotland (James II of England ). The past is alive today! (From book VII, Pages 285-286, The History of Scotland, James Hill Burton, Published by William Blackwood and Sons, Edinburgh, 1905.)

“On the 4th of April, the Estates passed a vote declaring that King James had forfeited his right to the crown, and that the throne had become vacant.

This Vote contains an arraignment of the fugitive monarch for the offences held to justify the doom pronounced on him. Among these, his efforts for the establishment of Popery are conspicuous. They are followed by a catalogue of outrages against the liberties and rights of the people of Scotland: He had converted the limited monarchy with which he was intrusted into an arbitrary despotism; he had imposed oaths and tests contrary to law; he had exacted money without the consent of Parliament; he had covered the country with an irresponsible and oppressive standing army not sanctioned by the constitution; he had made the soldiers of this army supersede the constitutional judges, and inflict penalties; he had extended the use of judicial torture beyond its legal limits; he had suppressed the privileges of the municipal corporations because they were a refuge from tyranny; he had corrupted and intimidated the bench, dictating the judgments they were to give, and altering the constitution of the courts to make them pliant. For all these offences, “The Estates of the kingdom of Scotland find and declare that King James the Seventh, being a profest Papist, did assume the regal power and acted as king without taking the oath required by law, and hath by the advice of evil and wicked councilors invaded the fundamental constitution of this kingdom, and altered it from a legal limited monarchy to an arbitrary despotic power, and hath exercised the same to the subversion of the Protestant religion, and the violation of the laws and liberties of the nation, inverting all the ends of governments, whereby he hath FOREFAULTED the right to the crown, and the throne is become VACANT.””

To anyone familiar with the activities of the chief executive and recent chief executives, there should be no dispute concerning the correlation between the past and the present. “Outrages against the liberties and rights of the people” will continue to be perpetrated against the populace, until “the people” are willing to do whatever is necessitated to defend themselves and restore their civil and religious liberties. This is the American heritage bequeathed Americans by the nations founders, but will Americans lay their fortunes, lives and sacred honor on the line, or continue to grovel like whipped dogs in a Popish kennel?

“I will bring the values of our history to the care of our times.”

“An angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.”

The private character of a man is indicated by his public actions. Whose history is it that gives George Bush the values he possesses? Is it a small thing of great love to present a Medal of Freedom to an international megalomaniac and tyrant? What is the name of this angel of whom Bush speaks? Perhaps it is the angel “whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

It has often been said that a man is known by the company he keeps. Or, “Evil communications corrupt good manners.” Birds of a feather flock together. Proverbs 23:27-28: “For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.”

Proverbs 7:10-14: And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.) So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him, I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.

CONSTITUTIONALISM VERSUS IMPERIALISM

”The real struggle is…between constitutionalism and imperialism; between the effort to guarantee to every individual his inherent rights and the disposition to override, to ignore, or to deny them, no matter by whom it is entertained.”Democracy, as well as monarchy, may be imperial and unconstitutional. The will of many may be as arbitrary, as absolute, as unjust, and even as cruel as the will of one. Progress toward the recognition and the guarantee of all inherent rights can be made only by opposing imperialism in whatever guise it may appear, and by sustaining constitutionalism as a system of public guarantees. Imperialism and constitutionalism-these are the great landmarks. It is upon this frontier that the battle must be waged. What is the answer of democracy?”

“Regarded concretely, this conflict may be reduced to very simple terms. On the one hand are principles capable of clear statement and universal application-the immutable principles of justice based on mutual obligation. On the other hand are human personalities-often highly intelligent, plausible, eloquent, and sometimes personally attractive-who, in exchange for power promise to those who follow them rich rewards. Trust them, they pledge themselves, they will reapportion the wealth of the world, they will so reconstruct society, that those who have felt themselves outstripped in the race of life shall wear its laurels, shall rejoice in plenty, and shall rule where they have served.
