Every distraction which wastes the time allotted to us; squanders the resources with which we have been blessed; or sets our affections above attentiveness to the word of God as the primary -- indeed total -- application of our minds, hearts, souls and strength is a kind of idol which we need to cut down, grind to dust and burn outside the camp lest we be found guilty of spiritual whoredom. We, the Elect of the Lord, have been ransomed at a great price, even the blood of the Lord, and to whom much has been given much is expected. We should tremble to trifle with the Lord by setting aside our duties toward Him for the sake of worldy pursuits that do not by any rationalization have Him in view.
